Home batteries are the most-asked-about upgrade we install. They're brilliant in the right situation — and an expensive extra in the wrong one.

When a battery makes sense

Frequent outages, time-of-use rates with expensive evenings, or a utility with poor export credits all make storage pay.

When it doesn't

If your utility offers full retail net metering and outages are rare, the grid is already acting as a free battery.

Sizing it right

Most homes need 10–15 kWh to cover evening use; whole-home backup may call for more.
